James captured every emotion and special moment of our wedding day so well. Not only did we end up with incredible photos of the two of us, but also some amazing, candid photos of our family and friends that we will cherish forever. James is such a kind, down-to-earth person that really has a gift for making those around him feel comfortable and valued. Our guests all loved him! He is a natural at what he does and really cares about every little detail. Basically we cannot recommend him enough! Thank you for being a part of our day!- Lisa & Rick
Having known Rick and Lisa for a little while prior to their wedding, this was a really special one for me. Knowing how fun these two are and what they had planned for the day, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in and get some great images of their special day. Rick and Lisa had planned quite a party for their The Blazing Donkey wedding but before we saw the dance moves come out, we started the day back in Canterbury. I photographed both the bride and groom getting ready and I’m so glad we could make that happen. Rick and Lisa had written each other the loveliest letters that got all the emotions running high in the morning. Lisa’s moment with her step-dad in the morning was also one of a kind- I wouldn’t swap the opportunity to photograph moments like these for anything.
Onto St Mary the Virgin Church in Sandwich for a lovely ceremony. I love their twist on the wedding bouquets and buttonholes by using dried flowers- they looked awesome and really fit with the vibe of the day. All of Rick and Lisa’s friends and family were so happy for them both, just wishing them well and offering congratulations at every moment. It was so moving and Rick and Lisa’s faces say it all really.
The Blazing Donkey Wedding
Onto their wonderful The Blazing Donkey wedding reception, with lots of laughs to be had. The best man Caleb did an especially funny speech which we all enjoyed immensely. He got the balance of best man banter and congratulations spot on!
Before Lisa donned her cowboy boots for an evening of dancing, I stole these two away for their couple portrait session in a local corn field and we had so much fun. Rick and Lisa made the most of their time (almost!) alone together and were just themselves, using the moment of quiet to be sweet and romantic with one another. We got some great shots and it was the perfect setting for their country wedding.
Back to The Blazing Donkey wedding and let the line dancing begin! Not before the traditional garter removal and toss of course- one Texan tradition that couldn’t be left out! One thing I can say about Rick and Lisa’s guests from Texas is that man oh man do they know how to dance. Everyone got stuck in and it made for some fantastic photographs. What a great day all round- I loved every second! And if you hear of any British/Texan weddings being planned, make sure to throw my name into the mix, I would love to shoot another like this one!
